We are experimenting with cloth diapers. I have to tell you, I am quite nervous. This came from a need to cut costs, and we spend an enormous amount on diapers. Living on one income has been an experience for us!
I have felt terribly guilty for using disposable diapers because we know how bad they are for the environment. One diaper can take up to 500 years to decompose!! In a lifetime, a person will use enough diapers to fill a swimming pool. That is not taking into account the inputs that are used to manufacture the diapers; mostly petroleum products. Think about it....that is a lot of diapers and oil. Massive carbon footprint to hold a bunch of crap.
Before we got the boys I always said that I wanted to try cloth diapers because of the environmental issues, but I expected to have only one child. Now we are trying the cloth diapers mostly because of the financial burden of diapers! Funny how perspectives change.
